47th Separate Assault Brigade showcases M-55S tanks
The 47th Separate Assault Brigade has showcased Slovenian M-55S tanks that came into service with Ukrainian forces.
The photo with tanks was shown by Valerii Markus, Chief Master Sergeant of the Brigade.
On November 15, Valerii Markus said that the 47th Brigade had to receive new weapons and equipment as soon as possible.
But it was not officially reported which brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine had received M-55S tanks.
Slovenia sent to Ukraine 28 M-55S tanks only at the end of October this year.
Presumably, crews are now trained to operate these tanks and are undergoing combat coordination.
In exchange for these tanks, Slovenia received 40 Rheinmetall trucks from Germany.
An exchange agreement between Prime Minister Robert Golob and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz was struck in September.
Thus, such a circular exchange strengthened both the defense capabilities of Ukraine and cooperation between Slovenia and Germany.
Many countries with old Soviet tanks in service have modernized them. Slovenia has also significantly improved its outdated T-55 tanks.
It was a joint project of the Slovenian STO RAVNE and the Israeli Elbit companies. Together they upgraded 30 tanks.
The last updated Т-55 was received by the Slovenian army in 1999. In the course of modernization, the tanks received a new L7 105mm gun with a thermal sleeve and additional systems.
