As part of the “Let us live here” project, the first groups of sappers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces received mine clearance equipment.

The project is implemented by the Come Back Alive Foundation and the Kyivstar telecommunications company.

Six kits were handed over to one of the separate regiments of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, whose soldiers are operating in the Zaporizhzhia region.

The total value of the transferred property is UAH 8,318,552.75.

Each of the sapper groups received:

  • pickup;
  • quadcopter;
  • tablet;
  • 3 Motorola radios;
  • 3 personal kits for demining and one group kit;
  • 3 tactical sappers kits;
  • metal detector;
  • blasting unit, ohmmeter, wires.

The regiment was also given three special explosive suits.

“The sappers are now the main target of the invaders. As soon as enemy intelligence notices them, they hit with everything they have. You have to be careful not to detonate, and be able to quickly get out from under fire or evacuate the wounded. That is why it is so important to have reliable transport,” says regiment commander Oleh Mazurok.

As part of the project “Let us live here”, six more sapper groups of this regiment will later receive pickup trucks and other property.

The Come Back Alive Foundation and the telecommunications company Kyivstar launched the “Let us live here” project. It aims to collect UAH 175 million to provide transport, equipment, and demining-needed property for 146 engineering and sapper groups that are part of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. So far, more than 56.5 million hryvnias have been raised. The project “Let us live here” was launched in May of this year.

Sappers of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine work both in liberated territories and where active hostilities are taking place.

Ukraine is the most mined country in the world and is ahead of Syria and Afghanistan in terms of this indicator.

About 30% of Ukrainian territory is contaminated with mines and unexploded ordnance, according to data from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
