The soldiers of the K-2 Mechanized Battalion armed themselves with a trophy Russian T-90S tank.

A video of its capture was published on the unit’s official YouTube page.

The enemy tank was found abandoned after an unsuccessful assault by an enemy armored group. The battalion then began planning an operation to evacuate it.

At the time the tank was in the field, the soldiers could not determine its modification due to the massive anti-drone protection that made it difficult to inspect in detail.

The first step in evacuating the tank was to inspect it, as there was a possibility of an explosive device. The soldiers got to the combat vehicle through the “gray zone” and carefully checked it for any “surprises”. After making sure there were no explosives, they examined the tank.

Next to the tank were two anti-tank mines, which were thrown aside to provide a safe evacuation route.

During the video recording, an electric pneumatic valve for the gun was noticed inside the tank, which confirmed that the vehicle belonged to the new versions of the T-series. There were also inscriptions in English on the switches and buttons.

The tank was able to start after replacing the batteries and minor technical manipulations. The only problem was the trawl, which was buried in the ground. Nevertheless, after the tank moved off, the trawl was successfully raised.

According to a soldier with the call sign “Kochevnik”, one of the reasons for the loss of the tank to the enemy could be the crew’s bad nerves. This is confirmed by the fact that the tank was in third gear, which suggests that the engine may have been stalled during the attack and the crew may have left the vehicle in a hurry.

The driver’s seat was equipped with two additional cameras along with the standard triplex, which significantly improved situational awareness. The tank’s gunner and commander also had similar cameras.

“The vehicle is very interesting, the gun is fresh, replaced. They were shooting from closed positions,” said Nomad.

Later it turned out that the captured tank had been a T-90S, which had been modernized for the Indian Army. Unlike Soviet vehicles, it is equipped with thermal imagers for the gunner and commander, a remote-controlled turret and other special equipment.

Currently, the tank will be used by the regiment’s armored group to destroy the enemy with its own weapons.

Earlier, Militarnyi reported that the soldiers of the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade had repelled a Russian assault in the Siverskyi direction.
