ATACMS missiles hit Taganrog Aviation Plant
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have struck the aviation plant in Taganrog with ATACMS missiles.
The Sunflower Telegram channel published the photo.
The photo shows the solid-fuel engine of the ATACMS ballistic missile, from which the warhead with submunitions separates at the final stage of the flight.
The combined missile and drone strike was executed at around 4 am. Local residents reported unusual sounds in the sky, followed by explosions.
According to them, the explosions caused power and heating outages, and a fire broke out on the territory of the aviation plant.
The distance from the aviation plant to the front line is about 170 kilometers.
Taganrog Aviation Plant is one of the key Russian enterprises certified to repair and modernize A-50 airborne early warning aircraft.
In addition, the plant repairs IL-76 transport aircraft and IL-38 patrol aircraft and modernizes and maintains aircraft for foreign customers.
Attacks on the Taganrog Aviation Plant
The aviation plant was also attacked on March 9, 2024, when, according to Russian media, a significant number of drones struck the territory of the enterprise, in particular the assembly hangar.
It was reported that about 41 drones were targeting various military facilities in the city. Local residents heard at least five explosions.
An analysis of the plant’s satellite images, dated March 9, 2024, confirmed that one of the hangars was damaged in the attack. Traces of fire are visible on the roof.
The attacked hangars were used for the final assembly of aircraft.
