Czech Republic will supply Ukraine with 500,000 rounds by the end of the year
Czech President Petr Pavel announces the imminent delivery of artillery rounds to Ukraine.
In particular, it regards the transfer of 50,000 rounds of ammunition this month and next month.
According to the Czech President, Ukraine is to receive 50,000 rounds of ammunition in July and August, and 80,000 to 100,000 per month from September to the end of the year.
Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský said in late June that the first batch of Czech ammunition had arrived in Ukraine. At the time, Defense Minister Jana Černochová clarified that it was about 50,000 rounds of ammunition.
“The aim is to supply 500,000 rounds of ammunition to Ukraine this year,” the statement said.
The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala announced at the end of June that the first batch of artillery ammunition purchased under the Czech initiative had arrived in Ukraine.
Defense Minister Jana Černochová clarified that it was about 50,000 rounds of ammunition, and the aim was to supply hundreds of thousands of rounds to Ukraine this year.
This amount is now financially secured. The first part of the 180,000 rounds of ammunition is financed by a German contribution.
As previously reported, in February 2024, Czech President Petr Pavel announced at the Munich Security Conference that his country had found an opportunity to purchase about 800,000 rounds of ammunition for Ukraine.
The country’s representatives managed to locate about 500,000 155-mm artillery shells and 300,000 122-mm shells abroad.
Subsequently, the Czech Republic reported that they had located an additional 200,000 artillery shells but did not provide details on the caliber or other information.
In April, contracts were signed to purchase the first 180,000 rounds of ammunition.
