DELTA Update Will Allow to Plan UAV Crews’ Missions

The users of Ukraine’s DELTA situational awareness system have gained access to the Mission Control module, which will allow the military to plan missions for UAV crews.

The news was published on the Defence Ministry’s website.

The new module is a tool that allows the unit commander to plan the work of unmanned systems maintenance and communicate tasks to the performers.

The system makes it possible to establish effective interaction between adjacent units and higher headquarters: to allocate areas of responsibility, plan crew routes and coordinate UAV tasks with electronic warfare and air defense units.

The Mission Control helps to analyze the performance of crews and automatically generate reports on unit activity.

The Mission Control interacts with other DELTA tools, namely the Monitor situational awareness module and the Vezha battlefield video analysis platform. This creates a unified information picture for the effective use of UAVs, successful completion of tasks and destruction of the enemy.

It is reported that by the time full access to the system had been opened, more than 300 units had used the module. The Mission Control enabled 900 missions to be carried out daily, and over 200,000 missions over the entire period of the module’s existence.

“Mission Control is an important step forward in the development of the DELTA ecosystem and modern military technologies. This module not only provides a high level of digitalization and decision-making support in difficult combat conditions, but also opens up opportunities for the introduction of new management processes in the army,” said Kateryna Chernohorenko, Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine for Digital Development.

DELTA

DELTA is an ecosystem of military products that helps destroy enemy targets every day. It includes a mobile application, a military messenger, secure streaming from the battlefield, a digital map, work planning tools and integration with other systems.

The platform was developed by the Center for Innovation and Development of Defense Technologies of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and put into operation for all units of the security and defense sector of Ukraine in August 2024.

Delta provides a comprehensive understanding of the battle space in real time, integrating information about the enemy from various sensors and sources, such as drone reconnaissance, satellite imagery, and radio intercepts.

All collected information is displayed on a digital map, requires no additional settings, and can be used on any device, such as laptop, tablet, or mobile phone.
