Denmark Announces Military Aid Package for Ukraine Including Air Defense Systems and F-16s
The Danish government has announced a new military aid package that includes air defense systems and funding for the transfer of F-16 fighter jets.
The Danish government announced this.
The $815 million military aid package is supposed to ensure the purchase of the necessary weapons for Ukraine, including artillery shells and anti-tank weapons.
This package will allocate $349 million to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense systems. This will allow for the ordering of air defense systems needed by Ukraine to protect civilian infrastructure.
“Today we informed the Foreign Affairs Committee about a new assistance package to Ukraine. This package, which is the 18th in a row, focuses on both air defense and artillery systems, which Ukraine desperately needs. In addition, we have also set aside additional funds for direct investment in Ukraine’s defense industry, as well as additional funds for the upcoming delivery of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, which is scheduled for this summer,” the statement said.
In addition, a certain amount of funds from this military aid package will be used to prepare Danish F-16AM/AB fighter jets for deployment to Ukraine.
First of all, it regards repairs and modernization, which will make it possible to use them effectively in the Armed Forces.
According to the report, Ukraine is to receive Danish F-16 fighter jets in the summer of 2024.
Part of the funds from this package will be transferred to certain funds that purchase weapons for Ukraine.
In addition, part of the funds will be used to support the Ukrainian defense industry.
“The situation in Ukraine is very serious. There is no doubt that Ukrainians need constant and large-scale support from their allies. With this package, we are sending an unequivocal message to both Ukraine and the outside world. We are not only providing assistance now, but we are also ready to invest in the Ukrainian defense industry for the long term. Their struggle for freedom remains our struggle,” said Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.
Militarnyi previously reported that Ukrainian Strategic Industries Ministry demonstrated Ukrainian weapons samples that could be purchased as part of military assistance to Ukraine to Danish MPs and government officials.
