Enemy attempts to encircle Ukrainian forces in Sievierodonetsk, Lysychansk

Russian troops reinforce their ranks in the Sievierodonetsk direction and attempt to encircle the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Defense Ministry Spokesperson Oleksandr Motuzianyk during a daily briefing.

He noted that the invaders are deploying military equipment to the Sievierodonetsk direction, attempting to regroup and launch an offensive in the direction of Ternova and Rubizhne.

“Tanks, armored fighting vehicles, motor vehicles, and engineering equipment were moved through Svatove towards Starobilsk (40 kilometers northeast of Sievierodonetsk),” he said.

In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian servicemen are preventing enemy’s attempts to encircle Ukrainian Defense Forces near Orikhove and Hirske.

In the Popasna-Mykolaivka direction, they deployed two more battalions from the 1st Army Corps, which was replenishing its combat capacity.

Near Zolote, the Defense Forces of Ukraine fought off the assault and pushed the enemy back.

The situation remains challenging, but controlled by the Ukrainian troops.

In the Lyman direction, Russian invaders are firing at Siversk (20 kilometers southeast of Lyman) with artillery and preparing to force a crossing over the Siverskyi Donets River.

In the Sloviansk direction, the Ukrainian servicemen are fighting against enemy groups.

The enemy’s troops include units of the 1st Guards Tank Army, the 20th Guards Combined Arms Army, the Coastal Troops of the Baltic Fleet, the 29th, 35th, 36th Armies, the 68th Army Corps of the Eastern Military District, and Russian Airborne Forces and mobilization reserve 1 and 2 Army Corps.

“Enemy forces are focusing their efforts to seize Krasnopillia (20 kilometers southeast of Izium) and develop the offensive on Sloviansk. The enemy launched artillery strikes at Dolyna, Dibrivne, and Virnopillia. The Ukrainian Armed Forces fought off the assault near Bohorodychne stopping the invaders from taking it over,” Motuzianyk said.

In its morning summary, the General Staff reported that the enemy suffered significant casualties in the Kherson Region.

The Ukrainian Navy also reported that the Ukrainian Defense Forces hit a Russian tugboat near the Zmiinyi Island.
