Grad guided missile ship armed with Kalibr cruise missiles commissioned in Russia
A Grad small missile ship of project 21631 (code “Buyan-M”) was introduced into the Russian fleet in Baltiysk.
The press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that this ship is armed with Kalibr and Oniks cruise missiles.
Grad is the tenth small missile ship of project 21631, which was built in Zelenodolsk for the Russian Navy.
It was laid in April 2017, launched in September 2021.
Sea trials of the ship began in the Baltic in October 2022, and at the end of November the ship began state testing.
“The small missile ship Grad successfully completed state tests and entered the formation of missile ships of the Baltic Fleet,” the report said.
The displacement of the project 21631 ship is 949 tons with a length of 75 meters and a width of 11 meters.
The maximum speed is 25 knots. Range – 2500 miles, autonomy – 10 days. The crew consists of 52 people.
The ship’s armament consists of the Kalibr missile system, the А-190 100mm gun, as well as the Gibka launchers for the Igla anti-aircraft missiles, and the АК-630-2 Duet anti-aircraft artillery system.
The company “Zelenodolsky plant named after A. M. Gorky” has been building project 21631 ships for the Russian fleet since 2010. In early December, another project 21631 small missile ship Naro-Fominsk was launched in Russia.
The ship became the eleventh small rocket ship of this project (Buyan-M – ed.).
The ship is expected to serve as part of the Baltic Fleet. The transfer to the Russian Navy is expected toward the end of 2023.
