In Ukraine flight controllers for drones have been developed
Ukrainian experts have developed flight controllers that are printed for combat drones.
The Wild Hornets Charitable Fund took up the manufacture of flight controller modules for drones.
The main elements for the FPV drone are the flight controller, camera, radio, engines and antenna, which are attached to the drone body.
The flight controller stabilizes the drone and ensures smooth flight.
Although other elements, such as the camera and radio, may be more common products, flight controllers are specific to drones.
Wild Hornets produce “Wild Hornets” FPV drones. More recently, they started making a drone called Wally with night vision sensors.
They are based on the same flight controller, and Wild Hоrnets can easily switch production from one type to another depending on demand.
Thanks to the increase in production, the Wild Hornets reduced the cost of their FPV drones by almost 12%: from $400 to $350.
This will also allow Ukrainian manufacturers to reduce dependence on foreign components.
In addition, homemade flight controllers make it possible to reduce the risks of dependence on Chinese suppliers and overpricing them.
Large manufacturers like SpeedyBee are located in China that have limited the export of some components for drones to Ukraine. Ukrainian drone manufacturers often complain that it is difficult for them to get spare parts from Chinese suppliers.
It is worth recalling that recently it became known that two Ukrainian analogs of the Russian Lancet kamikaze drone have already passed preliminary tests and will soon be tested in combat conditions.
