Local residents and eyewitnesses report that there were hits to the airfield where the Russian military is based.
There is information that the munitions detonated after the hit. This is also supported by videos posted on social media.
The eyewitness footage shows flashes and flying ammunition and the sounds of explosions that sound like the munition detonation.
On Tuesday morning, the AFU Strategic Communications reported that on the night of October 17, the Ukrainian Defense Forces hit helicopters and equipment of the Russian invasion forces at airfields near occupied Berdiansk and Luhansk.
The statement mentioned that the strikes were successful but did not report any specific results.
The report does not outline the kind of weapons used or the damage caused to the aggressor.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also stated in a morning report that “Ukrainian troops hit two helicopters on landing sites, an ammunition depot, and an enemy artillery vehicle.”
The Berdiansk airfield is actively used as an infrastructure facility and a site of army aviation deployment of the Russian invasion forces.
