Invaders begin assault operations in the Kharkiv region

Russian troops have launched an assault in the Kharkiv region and are shelling border settlements.

On the morning of May 10, 2024, Russian artillery began shelling the city of Vovchansk, located 5 km from the border with Russia.

According to the military, at the same time, Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups were trying to cross the border with Ukraine.

As a result of short battles, the enemy suffered losses and was pushed back to their own territory.

Nevertheless, he continues to try to conduct the reconnaissance by combat in the border area and intensifies artillery shelling of Vovchansk and the its district.

Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, confirms the information about the intensification of shelling in the city and calls on the local population not to ignore the air-raid alerts and to take cover in case of shelling.

As a reminder, the information about a possible Russian offensive was discussed after the words of Vadym Skibitskyi, Deputy Chief of the Defense Intelligence.

In early May, he noted that Russians had been preparing an offensive from the Kharkiv and Sumy regions, but that they would not have enough forces to capture the regional centers.

Militarnyi previously reported that large-scale efforts had begun in the Kharkiv region to construct fortifications at hundreds of sites.

Over 500 workers and more than 200 pieces of machinery are involved in the construction of fortifications.
