Iran to transfer ballistic missiles and additional drones to Russia – CNN
Iran is preparing to provide Russia with approximately 1,000 additional weapons, including surface-to-surface short range ballistic missiles and more attack drones.
CNN reported about this with reference to officials who closely monitor Iran’s weapons program.
The shipment is being closely monitored because it would be the first case of Iran sending advanced precision guided missiles.
They note that this could give the Kremlin a substantial boost on the battlefield.
The last shipment of weapons included about 450 drones, which the Russians have already used, officials said.
As previously reported, the Air Force Command reported that Ukrainian forces have already shot down more than 300 Iranian Shahed-136 drones.
While the precise timing of when the shipment will arrive is unclear, but it will definitely be delivered before the end of the year.
As previously reported, Russian troops use Shahed-136 kamikaze drones to attack infrastructure facilities in Ukraine.
The U.S. recently confirmed that Iran is sending its instructors to the occupied Crimea and the territory of the Russian Federation to train the Russians.
At the same time, the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that Iranian instructors are teaching Russians to use other types of “Arash-2” drones.
At the same time, US officials have no information on whether Iran is going to transfer missiles to the Russian Federation for the war against Ukraine.
The Air Force Command reported that the enemy may place Iranian missiles near the northern border of Ukraine.
“We will use all means of protection against these missiles. Presumably, they will be delivered to the north of Ukraine, from where they can be launched to threaten the whole of Ukraine. One missile has a range of 300 km, the other – 700 km. These are ballistic missiles. We have no effective defense against these missiles. It is theoretically possible to shoot them down, but in fact it is very difficult to do it with the means we have at our disposal,” said Yuriy Ihnat, spokesperson of the Air Force Command of Ukrainian Armed Forces Ukraine.
As previously reported, The Washington Post journalists published information on that Iran is preparing to transfer short- and medium-range surface-to-surface ballistic missiles to the Russian Federation. Subsequently, Reuters confirmed these intentions.
This regards the Iranian Fateh-110 and Zolfaghar missiles. They are capable of striking targets at distances of 300 and 700 kilometers, respectively.
Last week, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that the United States was considering all options to prevent the supply of Iranian weapons to Russia.
CNN emphasized that U.S. officials have also said that they a aware of discussions about additional Iranian weaponry to Russia that has not yet been delivered.
