L3 Harris Unveils Diamondback Multifunctional Unmanned Platform

UGV USA

The American company L3 Harris presented the concept of the latest Diamondback unmanned ground platform at the AUSA 2024 defense exhibition.

The company made a statement on this topic on X.

Diamondback is an autonomous four-wheeled drone designed to be rapidly reconfigured to adapt to any mission and create a technological advantage against any threat.

The platform is designed with extensive use of off-the-shelf commercial products to enable rapid economic scaling of its production.

The electronics and software of the platform use a modular and open system approach, allowing for rapid reconfiguration to meet specific mission requirements.

Diamondback and its systems are designed to operate autonomously, minimizing the need for direct control and increasing mission effectiveness.

The promising platform was developed as part of a partnership between L3 Harris and Overland AI.

The system’s mobility, autonomy, and modular mission-specific payloads enable the platform to be the first to engage enemy forces and assets, reducing risk to its troops.

Recently, on October 9, 2024, Militarnyi reported that the United States Army tested an armed quadcopter drone with artificial intelligence elements in the Middle East.

The published photos demonstrate a Ghost Robotics Vision 60 (Q-UGV) quadcopter armed with a combat module with a rifle based on the AR-15 platform.

The drone was used at the Red Sands Integrated Experimental Center in Saudi Arabia during a recent drone countermeasures exercise.
