M777 Howitzers Restoration Announced by Ukrainian Logistics Forces
The Logistics Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have announced the restoration of M777 155mm towed howitzers.
This information was stated by the Command of the Logistics Forces.
Among the technologies used by repair specialists is titanium surface welding for damaged artillery systems. Before that, there was no information about the repair of the M777 by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The M777 is a 155mm howitzer that is manually operated and has a rate of fire of up to five rounds per minute. Depending on the type of projectile used, the howitzer has a range of 24 to 30 kilometers.
The howitzer was manufactured by BAE, which plans to restart its production.
The resumption of production is due to the increased demand for M777 howitzers, which are used by both the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the US Army and Marine Corps.
Currently, the largest operator of British howitzers is the United States, which has more than 1,200 howitzers of this type in service.
In addition, according to BAE Systems, other European and Asian countries, as well as Canada and Australia, which donated their howitzers for Ukraine, are also interested in acquiring the M777.
Recently, Militarnyi reported that two damaged HIMARS rocket artillery systems of the Ukrainian Defense Forces were delivered to the United States.
This is the first public confirmation of damage to these systems.
One MRL does not have a right front wheel under the cockpit and damaged the underside of the chassis on the right side, which is typical for detonation on a mini or other powerful explosive device.
Another launcher has damage, most likely from debris. The holes are visible on the flight deck, armored glass, and the most swivel mechanism for guided rockets.
