The National Guard of Ukraine has received a batch of Novator-2 armored vehicles.

Ukrainian Armor reported on this.

These are the first Ukrainian armored vehicles equipped with electronic warfare systems.

The updated version of the Novator armored vehicle has enhanced mine protection, improved suspension, and a steering system.

“The command of the National Guard set us a task: to quickly and efficiently equip our armored vehicles with electronic warfare devices designed to detect and defuse radio-controlled explosive devices, i.e. FPV drones, small ground drones, etc. Together with a domestic developer of electronic warfare devices, we found the best option in terms of cost, quality, and delivery terms and implemented it in these vehicles,” Mykola Kuzma, deputy general director for development at Ukrainian Armor LLC, noted.

“The Novator 2 vehicle was developed during the war while considering the experience of using the Novator armored vehicle by the military of various forces,” Ukrainian Armor added.

In early July, the National Guard of Ukraine received the first batch of the latest Novator-2 armored vehicles, which are designed to transport a combat group of 9 soldiers without a driver. That is a total of 10 soldiers. The vehicle is already equipped with a turret for a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun.

The Novator-2 armored vehicle underwent almost a year of testing before it was put into mass production. The prototype of this domestic armored vehicle was first presented at the MSPO International Defense Industry Exhibition in Poland in September 2023.

The main innovations of the 10-seater armored vehicle include improved suspension and steering systems that provide high maneuverability and increased cross-country ability.

The vehicle also became 10 centimeters longer, which allowed for the installation of an armored section for additional seats inside.

At the same time, the Novator’s curb weight increased by 2 tons to 9,660 kg, and the payload increased to 3,340 kg.
