New evidences of Russians’ runaway from Zmiinyi Island: photos of the evacuation and the abandoned equipment
Photos taken by the Russians from aboard the helicopter that evacuated the garrison out of the Zmiinyi Island appeared online.
As previously reported, on June 30, 2022, Russian troops escaped from the Ukrainian island after another shelling by the Defence Forces of Ukraine.
Mi-8/17 and Mi-24/35 helicopters were used for evacuation as shown in the pictures.
The Russians left on the island the Pantsir-S1 surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery system and a radar that resembles the P-18 radar.
The drilling rigs of Chornomornaftogaz, which were hit earlier also were captured in the photo. As of June 30, there were no signs of fire at these facilities.
Reminder: the battle for Zmiinyi Island has been going on since the first day of the Russian invasion — February 24, 2022. During the confrontation between the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, the Russians lost the Moskva guided missile cruiser, the tugboat “Vasily Bekh”, a large number of Raptor-class patrol boats and BK-16 high-speed landing crafts, the Serna-class landing crafts, as well as several SAMs and other equipment based on the island.
