New Ukrainian defense developments showcased at Security 2.0
Kyiv hosted the Security 2.0 exhibition of security technologies, which showcased Ukrainian-made products.
The event was dedicated to various aspects that should improve security in Ukraine.
Security 2.0 brought together government officials, business leaders, representatives of public sector, local business, and international companies, as well as security experts, to discuss emergency response issues.
The exhibition presented various solutions to help with demining, defenders equipment, and for other purposes.
In particular, a visibly transparent and infrared reflective (VTIR) coating that can be applied to various surfaces was shown.
The coating called “Thermal invisibles” is designed to dissipate heat, which should make the equipment less sweaty for thermal imagers.
Among other things, the Larvus mine trawl and the Gnome robotic platform by TEMERLAND were presented.
The Larvus is designed to defuse anti-personnel mines by forced detonation.
The exhibition showcased a model of a weather station for the military by Meteotrek.
At the beginning of the war, Meteotrek, the only manufacturer of weather stations in Ukraine, faced the fact that the agricultural market had collapsed, and the need for weather stations for the front was enormous. Therefore, the company refocused on military needs.
Kvertus presented a seven-kilogram FPV drone jammer Kvertus AD Counter FPV Backpack, which was recently tested on the front line.
“The worst result for the developers was that the FPV drone was able to fly 150 meters, and the best result was 300 meters,” the developers said.
However, this is not an individual item, and every soldier does not need such a backpack.
Thus, a group of 8-10 soldiers can move under the cover of one such Counter FPV Backpack. The cost of the device is 118 thousand UAH.
At the exhibition, one could see various reinforced concrete fortifications intended for cities, as well as for the military on the front line.
Reinforced Concrete Plant No. 1 showcased special sectional reinforcements that can be used to strengthen various positions.
A prototype of a metal-burning product called SF-1 (its shape resembles a pencil), designed for burning metal, was shown as well.
The device effectively burns the metal shells of explosive objects, for example, ammunition.
When it interacts with the metal shell of an explosive object, the explosive substance burns out the inside of the ammunition case.
Rhino showcased a liquid armor for vehicles that adds a maximum of 90 kg of weight and is applied by spraying.
The price of protection, depending on the size of the vehicle and the scope of work, is 2-3 thousand dollars. It can also be applied to metal structures, building surfaces, etc.
In field tests with RGD-5, DM50, and DM51 grenades (from 1 to 3 meters), the number of hits on the unprotected part reached 97, while the protected part had one hit.
As previously reported, the Ukrainian defense industry representatives have recently participated in the IDEB-2023 exhibition in Slovakia.
