Poland will double Krab ACS production
The Polish government will invest heavily in increasing the capacity of the country’s defense industry.
According to Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, funds would be provided to Huta Stalowa Wola in particular.
Krab 155mm self-propelled howitzers and other weaponry are manufactured at this company’s facilities.
Huta Stalowa Wola, which is owned by Poland Grupa Zbrojeniowa SA, is going to be recapitalized by the government for about 2 billion zlotys (approximately $448 million).
In the first stage, this should be 600 million zlotys, which are aimed at increasing the production potential of Huta Stalowa Wola SA.
These funds will support both HSW SA itself and its new branch in the City of Sanok – HSW SA Autosan Branch.
At the next stage, 1.2 billion zlotys should be allocated, part of which will be allocated to increase the production capacity of Jelcz Sp. z o. o, which is engaged in military automotive engineering.
According to the Prime Minister, this is an element of creating “a new, powerful production capacity in the country.”
He also stressed that the Polish state is making “huge orders” from domestic defense plants.
HSW SA’s production capacity currently allows manufacturing of fifty Krab ACS per year, and planned investments involve increasing this to about 100 ACS per year.
Over the past seven years, HSW SA has invested about 270 million zlotys in the development of production facilities.
Recall that Huta Stalowa Wola SA has directed its capacity to the production of KRAB artillery installations for Ukraine.
