The Russian army suffered significant losses in armor and manpower in the area of Staromaiorske.

Ukrainian military Kriegsforscher showed photos with destroyed equipment in the area of this village in the Donetsk region.

A “cemetery” of destroyed equipment formed from the defeated infantry fighting vehicles and tanks of the Russians on the approaches to the village.

In the photos, a destroyed BMD-2 used by Russian airborne and airmobile troops can be seen. The bodies of the liquidated Russian soldiers are scattered near the armored vehicle.

The military said that during the offensives, the Russians first released several guided bombs and then beat with 152mm artillery.

Then infantry and armored vehicles were dispatched for the assault, which was supported by a large number of strike FPV drones.

“They tried to cover their movements with a large number of FPV drones and tried to prevent our infantry from reaching their positions during the rotation,” the military Kriegsforscher said.

The military added that such tactics worked for the Russians. According to the Deep State map, the invaders took control of most of the village.

“Frankly speaking, this is pointless and does not give them anything,” the Ukrainian military noted about the battles near Staromaiorske.

Staromaiorske is more than nine kilometers south of Velyka Novosilka and 90 kilometers south of occupied Mariupol.

This settlement, as well as the village of Urozhaine, represents the outermost point of the bridgehead in the south of the Donetsk region, which the Defense Forces reclaimed from the invaders last summer.

The village fell under occupation in March 2022. The population left the village because Staromaiorske was too heavily destroyed. Before the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, 516 people lived in Staromaiorske.
