Russian army receives new batch of BMP-3

The army of the aggressor state received a new batch of BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles.

This is the third batch of BMP-3 transferred as a part of the state defense order, and produced at the Russian enterprise Kurganmashzavod in 2023.

This plant is part of the Russian corporation Rostec, which announced the transfer of new military equipment.

In Q1 2023, the Kurganmashzavod enterprise delivered as many infantry fighting vehicles as in the whole of 2019, according to Russian media.

The photo released by the press service of the Russian enterprise showed several dozen BMP-3 sent by rail.

Infantry fighting vehicles passed all necessary tests at the training ground of the defense enterprise. The supplied ​​vehicles are equipped with additional protection – mounted armored screens and cage armor.

The report notes that today, Kurganmashzavod is working in an enhanced mode. Workers work six days a week for 12 hours. Some sections of the enterprise have a 24-hour work schedule.

The Russian army received a preliminary batch of BMP-3 in April 2023, then several dozen combat vehicles were transferred.

The first batch sent in 2023 was in early February 2023.

The Soviet/Russian BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicle is armed with a 2А70 100mm gun with a 2А72 30mm autocannon, and a 7.62mm PKTM machine gun. The vehicle is designed to transport personnel to the frontline, increase the mobility and security of military personnel on the battlefield, and perform joint actions with tanks in battle. BMP-3, unlike previous combat vehicles, received a new chassis, engine, weapon system, and hydro-mechanical transmission.

The front location of the engine-transmission compartment was moved to the aft end, according to the tank scheme. This improves the visibility of the driver, as well as the distribution of weight along the length of the vehicle. Water-jet propulsion is installed on the BMP-3, and is used to overcome water obstacles.
