Russian Forces Use Modified Niva SUVs in Failed Assault
Russian infantry attempted to storm Ukrainian positions using modified civilian Niva SUVs.
The video was released by the press service of the 60th Separate Mechanized ‘Ingulets’ Brigade.
“When the enemy runs out of armored personnel carriers and tanks, even Niva vehicles are used in their banzai attacks. But no matter what they come up with, the result is always the same,” the Brigade added.
The detection and destruction of the enemy assault group was carried out by the soldiers of the 98th Battalion of the Brigade.
Judging by the published footage, the SUVs were equipped with electronic warfare systems that were supposed to protect them from Ukrainian drones. However, these systems failed to save the vehicles.
The modification included the doors being removed from the vehicles. The Russians also removed the trunk roofs, turning Nivas into pickup trucks.
The modified Niva SUVs were intercepted by Ukrainian quadcopters carrying drop munitions while in motion.
After the first hits, the Russian infantry rushed out of their vehicles and began to disperse on the ground, but this did not save them from the drones.
Operators of Ukrainian quadcopters destroyed the vehicles and eliminated the surviving Russian assault group.
Previously, on October 27, Militarnyi reported that Russian infantrymen tried to storm Ukrainian positions in VAZ Zhiguli cars.
The video showed that the Soviet cars had been upgraded: the roof was cut off, the doors were removed, and an anti-drone “grill” with a camouflage net was welded in place of the roof.
The Russian “assault” vehicle was spotted by a reconnaissance drone, and FPV drones were sent to intercept it, at which the Russian infantry opened fire.
As a result of the daring assault, the Russians were destroyed by drones and infantry fire.
