Russian Government Cuts Payments to Wounded Soldiers

Russia War with Russia

The Government of the Russian Federation has approved a decree on the amount of a one-time payment to military personnel in case of combat injuries and maims.

The Russian Important Stories media outlet reported on this.

From now on, the amount of compensation for injuries sustained in the war against Ukraine will range from 100,000 to 3 million rubles. Previously, all victims received 3 million rubles, regardless of the severity of their injuries.

A payment of 3 million rubles is awarded to military servicemen who have suffered severe injuries or traumas, as specified in Section I (wounds, traumas, contusions).

In particular, traumatic amputations, multiple rib fractures, penetrating skull wounds, spinal and spinal cord injuries, and chest injuries.

Those who sustained light injuries will be able to claim one million rubles, which are provided for in Section II of the list.

These include closed skull injuries with concussions, ligament tears, gunshot wounds and soft tissue injuries, and hearing injuries.

In case of other injuries, the payment to the wounded will amount to 100,000 rubles.

Payments to Russian conscripts for signing a contract

At the end of October 2024, Militarnyi reported that more and more Russian conscripts were receiving notifications that they had signed a contract with the Russian army without their consent.

In mid-October, 20-year-old conscript Kirill Vyunov, a native of Krasnoyarsk Krai, and six of his fellow conscripts received money for a contract they allegedly signed with the Defense Ministry.

All seven claimed that they did not sign anything and did not intend to stay in the Russian army for more than a year, as is required by law for conscripts.

Kirill Vyunov serves in the military unit 31643, stationed in the Kurgan oblast.

On October 14, he suddenly received a large sum of money – 405,000 rubles – to the account he had opened for his mother a few months ago (to transfer his allowance for an enlisted man).
