At least three of the ten tanks at the oil depot site of the Russian Kaluganefteprodukt JSC were completely destroyed following a drone attack.

This conclusion is based on a comparison of Sentinel-2 satellite images analyzed by the Watchers media.

Significant burning areas were observed around the remaining tanks.

The strike occurred on the night of November 25. The affected site is located near the Typhoon defense plant.

On the night of November 25, local residents in Kaluga, Russia, heard loud explosions and then reported a large fire. The Russian Defense Ministry, on the other hand, reported 23 allegedly intercepted Ukrainian drones.

NASA’s FIRMS satellite system shows that the fire was detected at 2 a.m. on the night of November 24-25 at this oil depot.

A comparison of satellite imagery before and after the attack shows the total destruction of three tanks and burning throughout the site.

The attacked tanks of the Kaluganefteprodukt enterprise are subordinated to PJSC Rosneft Oil Company.

The company has tanks of the RVS-200, RVS-700 and RVS-1000 types (the digital indexes mean the tanks’ maximum volume in cubic meters).

As for the Russian Typhoon defense plant, located directly next to the attacked oil depot and also targeted by Ukrainian drones, the available satellite images and the winter terrain conditions do not yet provide enough information to assess the extent of the destruction at the plant, or whether it was affected at all.

The Kaluga Instrument-Making Plant Typhoon is one of the largest industrial enterprises in the Kaluga oblast, developing and manufacturing radio-electronic equipment for civil and special purposes.
