Russian propagandist eliminated in Zaporizhzhia region
In Zaporizhzhia, the so-called “war correspondent” from the Russian propaganda agency RIA Novosti, Rostislav Zhuravlev, was eliminated.
The photographer of the agency, Konstantin Mikhalchevsky, was also wounded.
Together with them, the journalist of the Russian newspaper Izvestia Romana Polshakov and the cameraman Dmitry Shikov received shrapnel wounds.
The Russians allegedly were subjected to Ukrainian artillery fire at the front. It allegedly happened in the area of the settlement of Piatykhatky, Zaporizhzhia region, liberated by Ukrainian troops in June.
The Ministry of Defense of the aggressor state said that a group of “war correspondents” of the Izvestia newspaper and the RIA Novosti propaganda news agency were preparing news material on the use of artillery-delivered cluster munitions by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The invaders said that as a result of a strike with cluster munitions on Saturday July 22, in the Zaporizhzhia region, four Russian journalists sustained injuries of varying severity.
During the evacuation, RIA Novosti propagandist Rostislav Zhuravlev allegedly died from injuries as a result of a submunition explosion.
The state of health of other Russian propagandists is stable. They have shrapnel wounds of varying severity.
Zhuravlev was one of the Russian so-called “war correspondents” covering the course of hostilities during the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
He was in the Myrotvorets Centre base. According to the organization, Zhuravlev used to be a militant of the illegal armed formation “Zarya” of the so-called “LPR” and participated in a special operation of Russia to occupy the Ukrainian Crimea.
As previously reported, the United States, as part of defense assistance, had handed over cluster artillery shells to the Armed Forces. They are used outside settlements to defeat infantry and enemy positions on the front line.
The Ukrainian military has already shown a video of the use of cluster munitions in the Donbas. The footage was recorded by a drone. It shows how the detonation of submunitions occurs after dispersing them near the forest where the occupiers were located.
