Russians lost a rare flamethrower BRO-T in eastern Ukraine
The Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed a rare Russian BMO-T heavy flamethrower vehicle.
Photos of the destroyed vehicle appeared on social media with the location indication — the vehicle was hit in eastern Ukraine.
The vehicle is designed for the transportation of flamethrower troops and thermobaric launchers.
It is also intended to fight against well-fortified firing points of the enemy.
The crew typically consists of a commander, a driver and a team of flamethrowers.
The flamethrowers are the ones representing the main striking force of the BMO-T (as opposed to the flamethrower tank), firing through the embrasure without leaving the armor protection.
The flamethrower combat vehicle is based on Т-72 chassis and assemblies.
BMO-T is divided into two compartments: engine-transmission compartment and the command compartment (which is combined with the crew compartment).
In case of a fire in the BMO-T there is an automatic three-level fire extinguishing system.
The main armament is an anti-aircraft 12.7mm heavy machine gun. In addition to the machine gun, the vehicle has 30 units of 93mm RPO-A flamethrowers. Twelve 81mm grenade launchers of the 902А system from the Shtora electro-optical active protection system against high-precision weapons were installed on the BMO-T. A multi-fuel В-84-1 or В-84М engine is used as a power plant on the BMO-T. Several fuel tanks are installed in the vehicles.
Recall that this is not the first case of the destruction of BMO-T in Ukraine. The first destruction of this vehicle was recorded in April 2022.
