Second TRML-4D radar delivered to Ukraine
The new TRML-4D radar by the German company Hensoldt has been delivered to Ukraine.
The German government said that it was the second TRML-4D radar that Ukraine received.
In addition to the radar, Germany delivered 3 BIBER bridge-laying tanks, 1 mobile protected mine clearing system, as well as 2 border protection vehicles to the Ukrainian armed forces.
Also, 16 Mercedes-Benz Zetros trucks are handed over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In supplies to Ukraine, emphasis is often placed on weapons, but Ukrainian units are also in great need of trucks.
In wartime, logistics are just as important as weapons. A total of 124 Zetros trucks have already been delivered to Ukraine.
In turn, BIBER bridge-laying tanks will allow the Ukrainian military to deploy a bridge crossing rivers, anti-tank ditches and other obstacles.
Biber is based on the Leopard 1 tank chassis. Instead of a turret, it is equipped with a bridge construction system. The bridge is laid horizontally, and the main advantage of this design is invisibility to the enemy.
However, the Ukrainian army also needs reinforcement for its air defense. For this purpose, the German government ordered TRML-4D radars for Ukraine.
In January 2023, Hensoldt received an order for TRML-4D radars under a contract for the supply of IRIS-T SLM air defense systems.
The radar will allow Ukrainian air defense to simultaneously detect and track up to 1,500 different air targets at ranges from 0.01 to 250 km with a maximum detection height of 30 km.
As previously reported, HENSOLDT will deliver 4 TRML-4D radars to the Diehl Defense company, which is preparing IRIS-T SLM air defense systems for Ukraine.
