Seven European countries pledge to increase military assistance for Ukraine
The heads of government of Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Norway, Poland, and Sweden issued a joint statement in which they assured of increased military assistance for Ukraine in the coming months.
They agreed on this following a meeting at the residence of the Swedish Prime Minister.
The Swedish government released the relevant statement on Wednesday, November 27, Ukrinform reports.
“We will step up our support for Ukraine. In the coming months, we will step up our support, including for the Ukrainian defense industry, and invest in more ammunition for Ukraine,” the seven European countries stated.
The leaders noted that their countries are the largest donors of military aid to Ukraine per capita, emphasizing that their support will not weaken.
“Ukraine’s courage and resilience will be reinforced by the strong and unwavering support of our countries, of which military assistance is an integral part,” they assured.
In addition, the prime ministers of seven European countries declared their support for Ukraine’s “Victory Plan” and expressed their commitment to a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace for Ukraine and its full European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
They also expressed their determination to assume responsibility for Euro-Atlantic security in the face of serious security threats and challenges.
The statement emphasizes that Russia remains the most significant and direct security threat to European countries in the long term.
“We will work together to deter, challenge and counter Russia’s aggressive and highly confrontational actions and to ensure that it is held fully internationally accountable for its aggression,” the joint statement committed.
Previously, Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson, at a meeting with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, stated that Sweden would allocate significant funds for the production of Ukrainian long-range missiles.
The Swedish government will finance the production of Ukrainian long-range drones as part of military assistance.
