Slovenia received 40 trucks from Rheinmetall
The Rheinmetall has supplied Slovenia with military swap body trucks.
The supply took place at the behest of the German government.
Forty newly build trucks, based on the UTF unprotected transport vehicles have now been handed over to the Slovenian military in Ljubljana.
The supply was made as part of Slovenia providing aid to the military of Ukraine.
“In exchange for the new military trucks, the Slovenian armed forces furnished significant military aid to Ukraine several weeks ago,” Rheinmetall said.
In addition to the vehicles, Slovenia is receiving variable loader platforms, five palletized water tank modules, along with an initial service package, including training.
An exchange agreement between Prime Minister Robert Golob and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz was signed in September.
Such cooperation not only supports the military of Ukraine but also strengthens defense cooperation between Slovenia and Germany.
As previously reported, in October, Slovenia shipped previously announced M-55S tanks to Ukraine by rail.
It was the second significant batch of Slovenian military support for Ukraine. In July, Slovenia shipped 35 М-80А IFVs to Ukraine. Those infantry fighting vehicles are quite similar to the Soviet-era BMP-1 or BMP-2.
Slovenia will be joining the EU training mission for the Ukrainian military. The Slovenian government decided to deploy up to 30 of its representatives to the EUMAM training mission for the Ukrainian military with the possibility of rotation.
In March, Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša stated that he supports sending S-300 air defense systems to Ukraine.
