Soldiers of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine destroy almost a regiment of invasion troops in the Kharkiv region
Special units of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) cleared 400 hectares of forest and destroyed almost a regiment of Russian troops in the Kharkiv region.
The press service of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine reported on this.
It is reported that on October 15, 2024, the DIU’s units Artan, Kraken, the International Legion, and the Legion of Freedom of Russia completed a comprehensive, successful operation to liberate a forest area located north of the village of Lyptsi in the Kharkiv region.
The actions of the Ukrainian reconnaissance servicemen resulted in the capture of the enemy’s battalion defense area, the destruction of three motorized rifle battalions, a Storm detachment, and a reconnaissance company of the 7th Guards Motor Rifle Regiment of the 11th Army Corps of the Russian Armed Forces.
Also, during the assault, the intelligence officers captured another Russian POWs.
“After clearing 400 hectares of forest north of Lyptsi, the situation of the invaders on this section of the front is deteriorating and close to hopeless,” the DIU said.
The peculiarity of the operation was that the infantry of the 13th Khartiia Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine was brought in with incomparably low losses. This exemplifies excellent cooperation between professional special forces and a line unit.
“The successful DIU mission creates conditions for further ousting the Russian invaders from the north of Kharkiv region,” the intelligence officers emphasized.
Fighting in the Kharkiv region
On October 6, it was reported that soldiers of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade fought off enemy positions and rescued four Ukrainian soldiers from Russian captivity.
It is reported that while moving between the positions on the contact line in the Lyman sector, four Ukrainian servicemen were ambushed by the Russian sabotage-reconnaissance group of up to 10 people.
The soldiers of the 3rd Assault Brigade joined the battle on the move, binding the enemy with fire. Having abandoned their prisoners, the enemy was forced to shoot back.
During the firefight, the POWs were able to escape and return to the Ukrainian positions on their own within a day. The enemy was driven back, and the position of the Ukrainian troops in this area of the front line was restored.
