Sweden will send anti-ship missiles to Ukraine
The Swedish government will hand over a new batch of military aid to Ukraine amid Russian aggression.
This was announced by Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde.
The new defense package includes anti-ship missiles.
Also anti-tank weapons, 12.7-mm rifles and ammunition are there.
This 4th support package also includes a financial contribution to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Total amount includes more than 95 million euros,” Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde wrote.
Linde stressed that Russia’s war against Ukraine must stop.
Swedish anti-ship missile
The Swedish army is armed with RBS 17 anti-ship missiles (Robotsystem 17), which Ukraine is likely to receive.
The RBS-17 is a Swedish variation of the AGM-114 Hellfire missile. The modification was carried out by Bofors.
It has been adapted for Anti-ship usage and can be launched from Naval vessels or a ground firing post. The AGM-114 Hellfire missile was designed to defeat armoured vehicles at long ranges.
It should be noted that Sweden is also armed with more powerful RBS-15 anti-ship land-based systems.
RBS-15 is an anti-ship missile developed by the Swedish company Saab Bofors Dynamics with the participation of Diehl BGT Defense.
