The Come Back Alive Foundation has delivered a batch of KBA-48M mortars to the 21st Mechanized Brigade.

The press service of the 21st Brigade reported on this.

Ukrainian-made 82-mm KBA-48M1 mortars have been delivered to the brigade’s units and are already operating on the front lines against the Russian invaders.

“During the Russian-Ukrainian war, mortars proved to be a powerful and effective infantry weapon that helps destroy Russian manpower and equipment in shelters and trenches and destroy enemy dugouts and trenches.

In the hands of experienced personnel, the KBA48-M1 is capable of sending three-kilogram “gifts” of 82 mm caliber at a distance of up to 3-4 kilometers,” the military shared.

The KBA-48M was developed in Ukraine in 2013 based on the design of the Soviet-era 82mm 2B14 Podnos mortar. Compared to the original design, the new system uses titanium elements.

All specifications, including ballistics and rate of fire, remained unchanged.

The Ukrainian industry has not mastered the production of artillery sights, so the new mortars are equipped with Western-made models.

In addition to Soviet-caliber mines, the mortar can also use Western 81mm ammunition.

At the beginning of the month, the Come Back Alive Foundation delivered a batch of Ukrainian-made 82-mm mortars to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The 16 Ukrainian-made mortars were distributed among four brigades of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

The 58th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky received six mortars. The Come Back Alive Foundation reported that four mortars were delivered to the soldiers of the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Knights of the First Winter Campaign. Four more 82-mm mortars reinforced the 54th Mechanized Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Mazepa. Two mortars were also transferred to a Ukrainian Defense Forces reconnaissance battalion.

This batch of mortars cost UAH 7,652,160 and was donated by partners and Ukrainian citizens who support the army in the fight against the Russian invaders.
