The level of the military threat from Belarus is constantly increasing – Nayev

Training of the Russian airborne early warning and control aircraft, along with MiG-31K, which are carriers of Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, is conducted to identify targets on the territory of Ukraine.

Lieutenant-General General Serhiy Nayev, Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported this.

Ukraine is taking measures to reduce the level of threat from enemy aircraft.

“Such training is conducted for the sole purpose – to identify targets within the territory of Ukraine intended for the aggressor’s missile attacks. But, accordingly, we are taking measures to reduce the level of threat,” Nayev noted.

He also added that the 2nd Guards Motor Rifle Division of the 1st Guards Tank Army, as well as the Aviation Group of the Russian Aerospace Forces, is currently stationed on the territory of Belarus.

Units armed with Iskander ballistic missile systems are also positioned there.

“At the moment, this is enough to create a threat to Ukraine and carry out tactical actions. At the same time, we are closely monitoring the weapons transferred from Russia and conducting a corresponding analysis every day. The level of the military threat is gradually increasing, but we are also taking adequate measures,” said Serhiy Nayev.

The Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also noted that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine foresees a significant increase in the grouping of troops in the event of an increase in the number of servicemen on the part of Belarus.

In the morning summary of the General Staff on December 20, it was reported that the situation in the Volyn and Polissia directions remains unchanged.

“There were no signs of the formation of invader’s offensive groups. Certain units of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation continue to be located in the border areas with Ukraine,” the statement reads.

As previously reported, on December 19, Alexander Lukashenko announced that Belarus had put the S-400 SAM systems and the Iskander ballistic missile systems on combat duty.
