The Polish Foreign Minister believes that the discussion about sending Western troops in Ukraine is useful for making an impact on Russia.

Radosław Sikorski said this at a conference in the Polish Sejm dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Poland’s membership in NATO.

Commenting on Macron’s words, Sikorsky recalled that such a precedent already existed in history, namely, during the Korean War of 1950-1953.

Then a coalition of states went to help the country by decision of the UN Security Council.

“Remember, at the United Nations General Assembly immediately after the invasion, more than 140 countries out of 190 voted to condemn the aggression as unacceptable. This is not just a statement to the press, it is the creation of a legal framework,” he said.

Given this, the Polish Foreign Minister added, “the coalition of UN member states here to stop aggression is not unthinkable.”

“That’s why I appreciate the French initiative of recent days. Because, in my opinion, it has a good intention, namely, for the Russian president to ask himself what our next step will be, and not for him to be sure that we will not do anything creative, and therefore could plan their scenarios,” Sikorsky emphasized.

In his opinion, the West should play “the ability to creatively define and asymmetric escalation.”

As Militarnyi previously reported, the French President Emmanuel Macron last week said that “it is impossible to exclude” the likely send of Western troops to Ukraine.

He subsequently added that his resonant words were carefully thought out.

Also, Czech President Petr Pavel believes that Europe should not limit its ability to support Ukraine.

Pavel called for an expansion of the assistance forms, including the possible presence of foreign troops in Ukraine.
