The Netherlands allocates an additional billion euros in military aid to Ukraine this year
The Dutch government has allocated an additional billion euros in military aid to Ukraine.
The Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte announced this in his X.
“Ukraine is suffering from Russian aggression every day. This week there were large-scale attacks on power plants. Civilians were killed again in the attacks on Kharkiv. Ukraine needs more to protect itself,” the statement said.
The country will provide €3 billion in military aid next year and allocate €400 million to support the economy and repairing Ukraine’s critical infrastructure.
The Netherlands will continue to cooperate with international partners, including Denmark and the Czech Republic, to ensure that the Ukrainian Defense Forces receive more ammunition and air defense equipment as soon as possible.
“Ukraine must win this battle. For their safety and ours,” Rutte said.
Military aid from the Netherlands
In March, Militarnyi reported that the Dutch government would purchase aviation weapons for F-16 fighter jets, which would soon be transferred to Ukraine.
The Netherlands will allocate over €150 million to purchase air-to-ground weapons for F-16 fighter jets awaiting delivery to Ukraine.
It is noted that the contract for their purchase would be concluded directly with the manufacturer.
The Netherlands will also purchase reconnaissance drones for Ukraine worth €200 million. This is being done in consultation with other partners and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
It was also reported that the Netherlands would provide Ukraine with high-speed inflatable and armored boats in patrol and combat versions.
The Dutch Defense Ministry detailed that Ukraine will receive fourteen rigid hull inflatable boats (RHIBs), five militarized river patrol boats, and three CB90 combat boats.
The country also allocates €250 million for the Czech initiative to order a large number of artillery shells for Ukraine as soon as possible.
