The Netherlands will financially support Ukrainian arms manufacturers
The Netherlands and Ukraine agree to cooperate on financial support for Ukrainian arms manufacturers.
The Ministry of Strategic Industries reported on this.
On Thursday, June 13, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umierov, Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren and Deputy Minister for Strategic Industries Serhii Boiev signed a statement of intent.
The statement put on paper the cooperation of the parties to create effective mechanisms of financial support for the Ukrainian defense industry.
The ministry emphasizes that the signing of the statement is aimed at strengthening the production capacity of the Ukrainian defense industry and ensuring the supply of the most effective weapons to the Ukrainian Defense Forces with the support of the Netherlands.
The signing of this document was preceded by a visit to Ukraine last week by Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren.
The Netherlands has already decided to allocate €60 million for Ukraine to purchase drones for various purposes.
Of this amount, €17.5 million will be used to purchase Ukrainian-made naval drones. Another €20 million will be spent on the purchase of FPV drones through the International Drone Coalition, and €22.5 million on the purchase of UAVs from the Dutch industry.
The Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine emphasized that the allocation of funds by the Netherlands for the purchase of Ukrainian drones was a significant contribution to the international fundraising initiative ZBROYARI: Manufacturing Freedom. It aims to attract foreign funding for the purchase of Ukrainian weapons in the interests of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The goal of the initiative is to raise $10 billion for the production of Ukrainian weapons in 2024. Ukraine has already received three donors as part of the project: in addition to the Netherlands, Denmark has allocated $28.5 million and Canada has allocated $2.1 million.
Also in 2026, Ukraine will receive the first ordered CV90 infantry fighting vehicles from the Netherlands.
The Netherlands is investing more than €400 million in a Swedish fund to ensure the production of these combat vehicles.
