U.S. preparing 30 additional Bradley fighting vehicles for Ukraine
The U.S. is preparing a new military aid package for Ukraine, which includes Bradley fighting vehicles and Stryker armored personnel carriers for the counteroffensive.
According to Reuters sources, the United States will announce a new military aid package on Tuesday, June 27.
The package includes defense aid for Ukraine worth up to $500 million.
According to one of the officials, 30 Bradley fighting vehicles and 25 Stryker armored personnel carriers may be included.
As a part of the aid package, Ukraine will receive munitions for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), anti-tank weapons, including Javelins.
The package may also include munitions for Patriot and Stinger anti-aircraft systems.
In Ukraine, Bradley M2A2 IFVs are in service in the 47th Mechanized Brigade.
These vehicles are already actively used in combat operations in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Recently, Ukraine sent for repairs the first Bradley fighting vehicle, which was damaged in battle.
Back in January 2023, it became known that this brigade would receive Bradley M2A2 ODS IFVs. In total, Ukraine expects to receive more than 100 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles.
The M2A2 ODS, which Ukraine has already received, was developed by the United States based on their experience gained during the hostilities in Ukraine.
The major improvements to the Bradley M2A2 ODS included the Force XXI Battle Command Brigade and Below (FBCB2). This is a Battlefield Command Information System, the so-called Situation awareness system.
