Ukraine developed new EFP-S armor-piercing ammunition for FPV
Ukraine has developed new EFP-S ammunition for FPV drones, capable of penetrating armored vehicles.
This is stated in the document about the munition, which is freely available on the website of the Territorial Defense Forces.
The product, which weighs only 1 kg, belongs to the Shock Wave Dynamics (SWD) family of ammunition.
The EFP-S ammunition warhead has a “platter charge,” a powerful behind-armor effect, and a long range.
It is used against lightly armored vehicles (self-propelled guns, IFVs, APCs), which are protected by slat armor and anti-drone equipment.
The document states that the armor penetration is 25 mm. The range of damage is between 1.5m and 50m.
The weight of the striking element is 165g. Its velocity reaches 1800 m/s.
In this case, the warhead can be equipped with a C4 (420g) or PVV-5а (390g) explosive, which consists of 85% hexogen.
The EFP-S consists of:
- a removable case part;
- screws for fixing the removable part;
- cap for fixing the detonator;
- adapter for attachment to the drone frame;
- a sight for alignment of the heading camera;
- rubber lining.
The ammunition is attached to the FPV drone using nylon clamps.
The manufacturers state that effective operation requires remote detonation of the EFP-S munition and a heading chamber alignment before the munition is fired.
In recent months, the FPV drones with new ammunition of the Shock Wave Dynamics family started to be deployed against the Russian military.
