Ukraine evacuates 134 citizens and 45 foreigners from Lebanon
The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (MFA) evacuated citizens from Lebanon.
A total of 179 people, including 134 Ukrainian citizens, were evacuated on October 1. In addition, the DIU reported that 45 citizens of other countries returned home.
This was the third evacuation from Lebanon due to the region’s deteriorating security and economic situation.
134 Ukrainians, including 112 adults and 22 children, are among the evacuees. In addition, 45 people of other nationalities, including 31 adults and 14 children, were evacuated. These are citizens of Poland, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Moldova, Brazil, and Lebanon.
The DIU noted that this operation was part of a broader effort to return Ukrainian citizens amid the deteriorating situation in the Middle East.
“The operation was executed promptly and without complications, with consideration of the existing threats to the safety of citizens in the region,” the statement reads.
Ukraine expressed gratitude to Poland and SkyUp Airlines for their assistance in the evacuation.
The DIU recalled that on September 4, 2024, they, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, successfully evacuated 25 Ukrainian citizens from Lebanon, including 14 women and 11 children. And during the first operation on August 3, 30 Ukrainians were evacuated, including 21 women and 9 children.
In total, 234 people were evacuated from Lebanon during the three evacuation missions, including 189 Ukrainian citizens and 45 foreigners who wished to leave the territory of Lebanon.
Currently, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs officers continue their active work to provide assistance to Ukrainian citizens in Lebanon.
