Ukraine launches mass production of Lancet drone analog
Ukraine has announced the launch of mass production of loitering munitions similar to Russian Lancet drones.
Mykhailo Fedorov, Head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, reported that the drone can hit targets at a range of up to 40 km.
Ukraine has a large number of different drones with ranges of up to 20 km, but at night, it is quite difficult to find a target within a range of 20 km.
But now, the Ukrainian Defense Forces need to destroy targets at ranges of up to 40 kilometers.
It took the Ukrainian defense industry six months to develop the market in this direction.
“We are currently considering several companies and testing products,” Mykhailo Fedorov shared.
According to him, the first contracts are a matter of weeks, and soon, the drones will be sent to the front.
“There are already combat uses, but they are still few and far between. It’s hard to provide specific dates, but within two months, information will start to appear in the Russian public pages on how their tanks are burning,” Fedorov noted.
Last August, the defense industry introduced a new Perun loitering munition.
Even then, the Ukrainian invention was very similar to the Russian Lancet barrage munition.
The presentation video indicated that the length of the Perun is 1365 mm, width 1370 mm, and 800 mm.
Perun is equipped with a double X-wing, allowing it to provide the necessary lift while reducing the dimensions.
