Ukraine to receive additional military assistance from Finland
Finland will supply more defense weapons to Ukraine.
This was announced by Finland’s Ministry of Defense.
Following Russia’s full-scale invasion, Ukraine has sought technical assistance from both the European Union and NATO member states.
On June 10, Finnish President Sauli Niinistö approved the government’s proposal to send more military equipment to Ukraine.
The Defense Ministry stressed that it would not disclose any content or schedule information about the assistance.
Such measures are meant to guarantee the delivery of military aid to Ukraine.
“Finland will not forget Ukraine and Ukrainians. We continue to help and we’re sending a new package of defense equipment,” the Minister of Defense Antti Kaikkonen added.
Finland’s additional military-technical assistance package was compiled considering the current needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the resource capacity of their own Defense Forces.
For security reasons neither the specific list of items to be included in the package, nor the equipment delivery schedule are being disclosed.
In early May, it was reported that Finland will be providing Ukraine with 70 million euros worth of aid and military equipment. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Finland Sanna Marin at the international conference on assistance to Ukraine in Warsaw.
The event was meant to collect financial assistance to cover Ukraine’s urgent needs and discuss long-term assistance.
In her speech, Prime Minister Marin condemned Russia’s aggressive war in Ukraine and stated that Finland is ready to strengthen its sanctions against Russia.
