Ukraine to receive pickups and trucks worth €22 million from Lithuania and Sweden
Ukraine will receive €22 million worth of vehicles from Lithuania and Sweden to support Ukraine’s demining needs.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported on this.
During a meeting in the Icelandic capital, Reykjavik, the member countries of the Demining Coalition agreed to purchase trucks and pickup trucks.
The vehicles are designed to support the needs of the State Special Transport Service and the Support Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Out of the €22 million, Lithuania is allocating €15 million and Sweden €7 million.
During the seventh working meeting, representatives of the countries that agreed to join the Coalition and expressed their interest, together with representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Armed Forces Support Command, discussed further plans for activities.
In particular, the participants discussed the list of procurements for ongoing humanitarian and combat demining, as well as a draft roadmap for developing the capabilities of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s demining units until 2034.
The Ukrainian delegation thanked the partners for their support in the field of combat and humanitarian demining.
The Coalition, led by the Republic of Lithuania and Iceland, aims to build the combat and humanitarian demining capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Special Transport Service.
Over 5,000 km² of Ukrainian soil has been cleared of mines since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
Ukraine has also codified and authorized the Ukrainian-made Khortich-1 pulse metal detector delivery to the army.
The Ukrainian 47th Brigade has been equipped with a powerful ScanJack 3500 mine clearance vehicle donated by Sweden.
