The fleet of the National Guard’s combat brigades will be replenished with new domestic Novator-2 armored vehicles in the medical evacuation configuration.

The National Guard’s press service reported on this.

It is reported that the Ukrainian Armor Company has developed a new version of the armored vehicle according to the technical specifications of the National Guard. The Novator-2 ambulance has already been codified and put into service.

Brigadier General Oleksandr Bilous also emphasized that before the Novator ambulance was put into mass production, the prototype was tested for two months in combat areas.

The armored vehicle’s interior space is adapted to medical personnel’s needs, with boxes for medicine replaced with convenient dividers and special hooks on the ceiling for droppers.

The vehicle can transport six wounded sitting or four lying. The armored ambulance has a STANAG 2 protection level and is equipped with a standard electronic countermeasures system.

“Very often there is a need to evacuate several wounded soldiers lying down at once, so the fundamental issue was to develop a more versatile ambulance, more protected and with more places for lying down. The mobility issue is also important to us,” Vsevolod Steblyuk, head of the military medical department of the Main Directorate of the National Guard of Ukraine, noted.

In July, the Ministry of Defense codified the Kozak-5MED, a domestically produced medical armored vehicle.

The new version of the Kozak, like the Novator, can transport four lying wounded or six in a sitting position.

In addition, both armored vehicles are constructed on the chassis of the American heavy off-road vehicle Ford F-550.

Novator-2

The second version of the armored vehicle was developed based on the experience of using the first Novator in the full-scale Russo-Ukrainian war.

The main innovations in the armored vehicle include an improved suspension and steering system that provide high maneuverability and increased cross-country ability.

The vehicle is powered by a 6.7-liter, 8-cylinder engine with 300 horsepower and is equipped with an automatic transmission. It is equipped with Run-flat technology, which helps to drive with damaged wheels.

Novator-2 has also become 10 centimeters longer, which made it possible to install an armored section for additional seats. Previously, the Novator could carry five passengers, but now it has ten seats.

The vehicle’s curb weight has increased by 2 tons to 9,660 kg. At the same time, the payload increased to 3340 kilograms.

Additional 5-centimeter-thick armored windows and an additional roof hatch were added. The new Novator-2 retains the ability to install a remote-controlled combat module with a machine gun. It is known that the armored body of the vehicle is made of Armox steel.
