Ukrainian Border Guards Neutralize Two BTR-82A with Vampire Drone
Border guards of the Phoenix unit destroyed two enemy BTR-82A.
The press service of the 3rd Border Detachment of the Pomsta Brigade reported this.
It is reported that enemy armored personnel carriers were destroyed by a Vampire drone near Andriivka, Bakhmut district.
As a result of the attack, one Russian infantryman was killed and another was wounded.
Vampire drone
The Vampire drones can carry up to 15 kilograms of payload of various types of ammunition for dropping.
The Ukrainian military uses these drones to destroy both armored vehicles and enemy fortifications.
Each drone is equipped with a thermal imager, so Vampire can operate effectively at night.
The large Vampire attack hexacopter is manufactured by the Ukrainian company SkyFall. The drone lifts payloads weighing up to 15 kilograms to an altitude of 400 meters.
This makes it possible to use the Ukrainian-made UAV to drop various types of ammunition on the enemy: thermobaric, HEAT, and high-explosive.
The drone is controlled by the operator using a remote control. Control is provided by radio and GPS.
The developers claim that if the signal is jammed, the drone will continue to fly until the signal is restored. Some of the drone’s components are made using 3D printers.
Specifications of Vampire drone:
- flight range – 10 km;
- communication range – 6 km;
- flight altitude – 400 meters;
- speed – up to 40 – 80 km/h depending on the load;
- flight time – 37 minutes without cargo and 20 minutes with 10 kg of weight.
