Ukrainian M113 APCs equipped with Sarp Dual RWS
The M113 armored personnel carriers of the Ukrainian military are equipped with Turkish Sarp Dual remote weapon stations.
One of these modified vehicles appeared in service with the 1st Special Purpose Brigade, named after Ivan Bohun.
The latest air defense systems manufactured by Turkey help Ukrainian forces in the Lyman direction.
The M113 crew uses the Sarp Dual RWS to defeat unmanned aerial vehicles.
The ASELSAN RWS has two armament mounts, which can be a 7.62mm machine gun, 12.7mm heavy machine gun, or Mk19 grenade launcher.
The installation of the Turkish RWS on American armored personnel carriers should strengthen the capabilities of the armored vehicle.
The SARP DUAL is widely used on Turkish armored vehicles and other platforms.
Its installation on the M113, in fact, turns the vehicle into a small infantry fighting vehicle. However, to fully fulfill this role, the car does not have sufficient reservations.
Remotely controlled weapon stations carry out searches, detect targets, and destroy them in motion.
They can also automatically adjust the flight of the projectile according to the distance to the target, the speed and trajectory of the target, and the air temperature.
ASELSAN manufactures three modifications of the remotely controlled weapon stations:
- SARP-NSV – for NSV 12.7mm heavy machine gun
- SARP-DUAL – for installation of two guns at once
- SARP-AntiTank – for installation of laser guided anti-tank missiles
Recall that the Turkish manufacturer of remote weapon stations, Best Grup, is completing the integration of the RK-3 missiles by the Ukrainian “Luch” Design Bureau on the Koralp 12.7mm RWS.
