The Ukrainian Navy has received CB90 high-speed armored assault motor boats from its allies.

The Ukrainian Navy’s press service published photos of the equipment.

The photos were taken during a meeting between Vice Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa, Commander of the Ukrainian Navy, and Rear Admiral Henrik Rüberg, Commander of the Danish Navy, who was visiting the Odesa region.

During the meeting, the commanders discussed the current situation in the Azov-Black Sea region and joint steps to strengthen Ukraine’s defense.

In particular, they discussed projects aimed at developing missile systems and surface and underwater unmanned systems that are strategically important for countering threats at sea.

Ukrainian sailors demonstrated the boats’ driving capabilities, maneuverability, technical equipment, and ability to perform tasks quickly.

Back in February of this year, Militarnyi reported that Ukraine would receive CB90 assault boats as part of military aid from Sweden. Later, the government clarified that this regarded ten units. Also, three such motor boats were to be transferred to Ukraine from the Dutch government.

In September, the Swedish government announced its commitment to provide Ukraine with six more CB90 attack boats as part of a new military aid package worth SEK 4.6 billion.

CB90

The Combat Boat 90 (CB90) is a military high-speed armored landing craft developed by the Swedish company Dockstavarvet, a part of Saab. It is designed for rapid delivery of amphibious assault teams, strike operations, coastal protection and patrolling, and support for special operations.

The CB90 is capable of transporting up to 21 paratroopers in full combat gear or cargo of up to 4.5 tons. The landing party is placed in the central part of the boat under the wheelhouse and disembarks via the bow ramp. Due to its shallow draft, the boat can land on unguarded shore.

It can also be used for reconnaissance, mining, surveillance, and intelligence gathering.

The motor boat is armed with three turrets located behind the wheelhouse and one on each side. They can be equipped with a large-caliber 12.7 mm Browning M2HB machine gun or a 40 mm automatic grenade launcher.
