Ukrainian paratroopers stop major Russian mechanized assault in the Kurakhove sector
Paratroopers from the 46th Separate Airmobile Brigade stopped a major mechanized assault by the Russians in the Kurakhove sector.
This was reported by the brigade’s press service on Telegram.
The brigade notes that during the attempted assault on paratroopers’ positions, the enemy used 52 armored vehicles, which were supported by aviation.
On the eve of the assault, the enemy began shelling positions of Ukrainian defenders with adjusted aerial bombs, after which it launched a large-scale mechanized assault from several directions.
The enemy made active preparations for the assault and managed to advance to positions of paratroopers, who, in turn, were actively engaging enemy vehicles and infantry using FPV drones on the way up.
Artillery, a tank company, and assault units were also involved in repelling the assault to clear the area of enemy infantry.
Despite their good preparation, the Russians lost 8 tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, 4 armored personnel carriers, one MT-LB and other equipment as a result of the counter-attack.
In total, Ukrainian paratroopers reported the destruction of 26 combat vehicles out of 52, as well as the loss of 72 invaders.
It should be noted that during the assault, the military recorded 24 attempts by the enemy to seize paratroopers’ positions from different directions, using small groups of infantry.
The assault was repelled in the Kurakhove direction of the Donetsk region, where Ukrainian defenders were holding off the enemy’s attack.
Earlier, Militarnyi reported that in early September 2024, paratroopers of the 46th separate airmobile brigade had repelled a massive mechanized assault by the enemy, which involved 46 units of equipment.
To repel the assault, paratroopers used the entire range of weapons available and destroyed 9 infantry fighting vehicles, 2 tanks, 2 armored personnel carriers and 2 motorcycles.
