Ukrainian Troops Took Under Control 74 Settlements in Kursk Oblast
In the Kursk oblast, Ukrainian forces managed to take control of 74 Russian settlements.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi has informed President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky about this.
Volodymyr Zelensky said that he was constantly in touch with Oleksandr Syrskyi regarding the military operation in Russia’s Kursk oblast.
“Despite the difficult, intense battles, the advance of our forces in the Kursk region continues, the exchange fund for our state is replenished,” Zelensky summarized.
Inspections and stabilization activities are underway on the territory currently controlled by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
Humanitarian solutions for these areas are also being developed. The day before, Zelensky instructed the Minister of Internal Affairs, other government officials, and the Security Service of Ukraine to “prepare a humanitarian plan for the territory of the operation.”
In a conversation with Zelensky, Syrskyi reported that as of today, August 13, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have advanced by 1-3 km, taking control of about 40 square kilometers of Russian territory.
“Combat operations are taking place along the entire frontline. (…) The situation, despite the high intensity of the fighting, is under control. We are continuing the operation,” said Syrskyi.
As previously reported, during the week of battles in Russia, Ukrainian forces captured more than a thousand square kilometers of the Kursk oblast.
On the night of August 5-6, a group of Ukrainian troops managed to advance into Russian territory between Oleshnya and Nikolayevo-Daryno in the Kursk oblast.
On the very first day, the areas where Ukrainian units had advanced began to expand both in width and depth.
Russia has only partially acknowledged its losses. During a recent meeting with Putin, the acting governor of the Kursk oblast stated that the Ukrainian army had captured 28 settlements and 480 square kilometers of territory. However, the Russians have not yet reported anything about the attacks on Tyotkino settlement.
