Polish group of companies WB Group has signed an executive agreement with Korean company Hanwha Aerospace on the principles of establishing a joint venture aimed at joint production of missiles in Poland.

The press service of WB Group reported on this.

The agreement was signed during the international defense exhibition KADEX.

In early September, the Polish WB Group signed a memorandum with the Korean company Hanwha Aerospace to build a new missile production plant in Poland.

Surface-to-surface missiles, probably for K239 Chunmoo launchers called Homar-K in the Polish version, are planned to be produced on this plant.

The new plant will also likely produce artillery shells in the future.

Implementing the signed memorandum will give Poland autonomy in supplying a significant part of missiles and artillery ammunition.

It is still unclear whether the plant will operate solely to supply the Polish Armed Forces or if it will also focus on exports.

Poland’s cooperation with Hanwha Aerospace

Poland is an active user of Hanwha products, purchasing self-propelled artillery systems, tanks, and other weapons.

In addition, the issue of purchasing KSS-III submarines is being discussed.

In April 2024, it was reported that Poland had signed a second contract for the supply of additional Homar-K missile systems, as well as KTSSM ballistic missiles with a range of 290 km.

International contracts of Hanwha Aerospace

In addition to Poland, another neighboring country, Romania, is actively interested in the company’s products.

On August 23, Hanwha held an opening ceremony for its first Hanwha Armored Vehicle Centre of Excellence in Australia.

The Hanwha Armored Vehicle Centre of Excellence (H-ACE) was opened in Geelong, Victoria, Australia, making it Hanwha’s first overseas base.

The center will primarily produce K9 tracked self-propelled howitzers and K10 ammunition resupply vehicles.
