Copenhagen Conference raised €1.5B in military aid to Ukraine
More than 20 countries took part in the Conference of Northern European Allies in Copenhagen to support Ukraine.
The delegations were represented by defense ministers, deputy ministers and other top officials.
Danish Defense Minister Morten Bødskov announced that more than EUR 1.5 billion had been raised for military aid to Ukraine.
In particular, Denmark stated EUR 110 million additional allocations for Ukraine’s military support.
It was also reported Germany plans to make a contribution that “will be a bit broader than the Rammstein format.”
“Your resilience is invincible, but you cannot stand this unequal war alone. We must all continue to provide and increase support to Ukraine with weapons, training, demining, and finances. And I hope that we can agree on even more contributions here today, and of course, Denmark is ready to do its part. Today we can announce a new contribution of EUR 110 million for arms, equipment and training,” Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said.
The Prime Minister of Denmark emphasized that the current war concerns not only territories and borders. It is a war of beliefs: between democracy and tyranny and is waged for the values on which Europe, the free world, is based.
Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky made an address at the Donor Conference of Allies of Ukraine in Copenhagen.
“No one will be able to stop the wind that will carry radiation, but all of us together can stop the terrorist state Russia,” Zelensky said.
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksii Reznikov, said at the conference that several priority groups of capabilities, which the Armed Forces of Ukraine should acquire to achieve the set aim, have currently been identified.
“They include: strengthening anti-access and area denial capabilities to protect the northwestern part of the Black Sea, ensuring air defense of large cities and critical infrastructure facilities, protecting the border with Belarus, as well as specific capabilities that we need to stabilize the front line and create conditions for a counteroffensive operation,” the Minister Oleksii Reznikov said.
The head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine also thanked the partner countries that unified within the framework of the Ramstein format under the leadership of the United States, for the assistance provided to the Ukrainian army. According to him, Ukraine has already received support that allows our soldiers to surprise the Russians on the battlefield – on land, in the air and at sea.
